What is an electronic shelf label?

An electronic shelf label (ESL, digital price tag) is a small display using e-ink – electronic paper that only consumes power when the image changes. A label therefore lasts for years on one battery and stays readable even at sharp angles.

Each label is linked to a product in the cloud system and updates wirelessly. The system can also switch screens automatically on a schedule – daily, weekly or monthly – and show a QR code, promotional price or allergen list.
